Future
Final Bachelor Project
I’ve organized a handshake deal with Troy from the Crafting Wearable Senses to pursue a project about identity and fine craftsmanship. The project will use high quality tapestry making to explore and express women’s gender roles in fashion. As workshopping and co-creation have become an important part of my skillset, I intend to work with women as part of my research, using that data to map a system and develop in the MDC expertise area, which I did develop further during my internship. My choice of coach is advantageous to my weakness in BE as he is experienced in marketing similar systems. Our intention is to create a business plan to market the research strategy, making method or product. This will address my hesitance towards entrepreneurial thinking by reframing my academic research perspective towards a mindset that will serve my future goal of working in a small company, allowing me to develop a method to execute my vision beyond university.
My hope for this project is to enrich my vision by researching a topic that is close to my heart and personal identity, the impact of gender roles in society on women. This is something I touched on with the Delice de Magie project and recognize as part of the unconscious reasons I gravitate towards re-imagined futures and identity research. I’ve come to appreciate that I have an urge to be provocative by designing for niche or marginalized communities, seeing this as an opportunity to explore the biases I have as an alternative, leftist woman to better understand my perspective strengths and weaknesses as a designer. Looking forward to a career and masters in design, this self understanding will aid me to make choices that honor who I am and who I want to be.
Personal Development Plan
Map a system of thinking or making
S - I would like to map a system that fully elaborates each step of the process for a specifc goal (eg. Self reflection on gender, design of a tapestry, making of a tapestry) such that it can be followed and replicated.
M - Test the followability/ replicability of the system by presenting the completed system to an outsider and having them replicate or describe the process.
A - I have a baseline experience with using data to map systems and rely on my obligation to document the process academically as a resource for gathering my data.
R - I have yet to develop my MDC skills this year and rely on this system to act as a bridge to achieve my BE goals.

Final Bachelor Project Goals:
Produce a business plan to market a product or system
S - I will create a detailed business model canvas to market the product or system previously mapped using researched partners and resources.
M - The business model canvas can be assessed for feasibility based on detail and accuracy to common practices.
A - With the help of my coach and my previous experience with the business model canvas, I will be able to prioritize the challenge of researching legitimate business opportunities using skills practiced in my internship.
R - BE is my weakest area of expertise that I have identified as a necessary area for growth given my intentions to have an entrepreneurial roll in the future.
T - Within the FBP Project timeline
Produce a high-quality tapestry/final product
S - I will use standard quality materials to craft a specific and thought-out design using methods learned by studying tapestry methods online, from peers and teachers.
M - The tapestry can be assessed for aesthetic qualities and compared to the planned design and methodologies to assess quality.
A - I have developed my learning methods to support acquiring new crafting skills that lead to quality outputs.
R - Quality and aesthetics are important to my professional identity but have been sacrificed/lost in previous projects, making it important for me to ensure they are consistently achievable.

Describe and reflect on my personal identity as a woman
S - I intend to identify a small list of values and opinions that distinguish my individual perspective as a woman and the strengths and weaknesses that offers to my design approach.
M - This can be assessed based on the detail and extensiveness of these lists and their impact on the focus of my vision & future plans.
A - Using my findings from participating in the research and design process with others and academic reflection techniques.
R - Perspective vision is an area in which I struggle that is important to understanding why I gravitate towards this project theme and identifying who I am.
